The person who is used to trim trees professionally is called an arborist. Tree doctor is another surname of an arborist. Proper knowledge, heavy proficiency and good understanding is must for tree trimming as it is a dangerous work. A good arborist should have three major qualities. Firstly, know how to climb up a tree. Secondly, should have an ability to use the right type of tools. Lastly, ensure the safe falling of detached limbs.

Diverse types of tools are used by an arborist. Recently various types of cutting tools are used by an arborist.

Tools used to Cut Tree

1. Shears for Lopping The lopping shear blade looks like as bypass pruning shear. The main advantage of lopping shear is that, it has two long handles through which you can cut the object easily as these handles produce intense pressure. For this accumulative pressure it is easy for you to cut a branch up to 1.5 inches through lopping shear.

2. Chain Saws for Slice Cutting Basically larger branches are discarded by chain saws. Chain saw is a power saw and the source of its power is either electricity or gas which operates a spinning chain. Do you want to give many slice cuts on a branch? I think a chain saw is the best tool for you as it contain a series of cutting teeth. Use a safety dress at the time of working with a chain saw and don?t hold chain saw above your shoulder. It may cause severe injury to you.

3. Saw on the Pole Pole saws are nothing but a pruning saw connected to a pole and it contains special teeth for cutting. Pole saws are generally bulky and it is difficult to give a smooth cut by this tool. As you have to cut any branch of a tree standing just under the tree by pole saw, be ready to move quickly.

4. Hand Saws For Small Branches Hand saw is the most convenient tool for you if you are going to cut a small branch. This basic woodworking tool is pretty good for miniature branches. Again, If you want to cut a bulky branch, pole saw is best for you because it has special teeth.

Equipments necessary for protection and climbing up a tree

As an arborist you are confined to climb up a tree and move on its crown it is totally a practical job as well as something entertaining. You should use climbing gear and safety rope when you are getting on the tree. If you are compelled to work on a branch that has grown in a risky position, it is must use a safety cable attachment.

You should use helmet to protect your head from any kind of injury.

It is compulsory for the arborist to wear a special type of clothing. A hand gloves is must for you for protecting yourself from the splinters of wood and cutting tools causing injury. Special type of shoes also used by the arborist for climbing up tree. Pants and some other items are used by the arborist for their extra protection.

If you are a certified arborist it is must for you to use a truck equipment for getting at the top of the tree. This truck is known as cherry picker as it lifts up the arborist at top of the tree.
